The Wonders of WordPress.

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

Well last week Wendy and myself crouded around a computer, note books in hand with Jackie giving us some wordpress pointers.  It would be right in saying that I looked and felt fazed after 2 hours, while Wendy cheerful as ever could have kepted going.

Today Wendy and I met again with the computer screen, this time without Jacky to guide us.  How did we do you ask? well not too bad and we didn’t crash anything.  Which is what we both thought we might do, however hard we tried not to.  So Wendy has a lovely page displaying her paintings and pastels.  I am hoping that in the next few weeks the page will be twiked a bit, and Wendy has said she will upload a photograph of herself.

Tomorrow it is my turn to update my own page, changing all of the oil pastel images of children at play.   My hands are a bit cranky so the intricate oil pastel sgraffito work will have to have a rest for a while.

Creswell Craggs sketching is underway for most of us, its so exciting.  Here is one of my pictures from last week, so peaceful there.  You haved to check the opening times now which have been reduced till the spring.

FOR THE MUSEUM

The Percy Gallery is lovely and the curation is always spot on.  Everyone is so helpful they make it easy all the way. I look so happy in this shot but its more like hysteria… having my photograph taken is scary.

OPEN STUDIOS

Only 9 days to go, so please come along and chat to the group.
This is our 4th year here at the museum and dont we just love it. Im not saying that the huge amount of tea and cakes consumed dont count, they do. The free childrens still life drawing workshop, was a huge success last year and here it is again. We all take turns in helping, so how cool is that.
The museum is a wealth of inspiration and information, if you havent been before WHY NOT! Friday Retford has a second hand market, and saturday a mixed market.

Open Studio Bassettlaw Museum 2016

We had record numbers of visitors for Open Studio at Bassett Museum, on friday 3rd and saturday 4th May. Record sales of framed and unframed work, with cards selling well as usual. Jackie W couldn’t join us but it didnt stop people being interested in her work and possible after sales made.

Angela, Alan, Rose, John made a very good job of serving refreshments in aid of Bluebell Wood Hospice for Children. I dropped the boxes off and we have to wait up to 4 weeks to receive the results.

The free still life drawing for both adults and children, was very busy from start to finish, both days.
Some very interesting and fulfilling work flowed onto the individual papers.

Really lovely to see Joan and John, such a big effort now they have moved.  Joans work has changed already, such a great surprise… acrylics.  Hoping to add the new work soon.

Come and visit us in Bassetlaw museum Friday 3rd/ Saturday 4th June. We will be there with our paintings and will be happy to talk all things arty with you. Come and discuss painting processes with us - whether you paint yourself or are an interested collector.

Rose had to be pinned down for this snap, such a colourful venice and only one of  three expressive open paintings in acrylic.

Ann all smiles next to one of her bright new veined watercolours and mixed media paintings.

Polly and I went to Sheffield for a woodcut workshop.  Very enjoyable hard work, with good results.  We both managed the tasks with a lot of humfs and giggles.  First of all we started with a cup of tea, resisting the cookies..  Then after the intro we gained great inspiration from the exhibition in the Millennium Gallery.

Here it is the finished block, if I had wanted the image the same way around the transference should have been on tracing paper reversed not free hand drawing.

IMG_9712    We had a great day but it was tiring and we were hungry!   Nothing like a pub on the waterfront to serve fresh food and accommodate 4 different food types.  Polly has sold her work, yippy all the best Polly xxx

IMG_9356Here I am at the PV, being asked to smile, not easy as visitors were waiting to walk the only gap in the galleries.  Very busy and so many sales, really good response to the exhibition.
